Description
Evolutionary Chronicle - Nui-Jaga
Nui-Jaga are large scorpions native to the Mata Nui continent. They mainly inhabit the continent's deserts and semi-arid regions, rarely permeating the more forested areas. During the hottest hours of the day, the Nui-Jaga rest in makeshift burrows beneath the sands or in underground caves and tunnels, emerging to roam the surface during dawn, dusk and night. These fierce solitary predators are not afraid to take on any prey animal, small or large. Outside of the mating season, these territorial animals will also prey on intruders of their own kind. Nui-Jaga are very capable diggers, using their powerful pincers to move great amounts of earth, sand and even rock to make their burrows, which can go deep underground. Once vacated these burrows are often used by many other creatures of the desert. The Nui-Jaga's venom contains powerful neurotoxins which can paralyze a large target for hours, and cause death in smaller animals within minutes. In either case, the scorpion can feast on its target without worrying about it fighting back.
