Evolutionary Chronicle - Sand Tarakava

Sand Tarakava are predatory reptiles native to the desert regions of the Mata Nui continent. Sand Tarakava are similar in appearance to their larger relatives, the Greater Tarakava, but are far more agile- though at the cost of strength, size and bite force. They are cunning ambush predators, able to lie for days beneath the sands while waiting for a suitable target to pass above them. Upon feeling the footsteps of prey above it, a hungry Sand Tarakava can use its long tail and muscular arms to launch itself quickly through the sands and out to the surface, taking its target by surprise. Although not immune to the venom, Sand Tarakava will occasionally target Nui-Jaga, sometimes deliberately entering their underground burrows. They use tactics and agility to confuse the scorpions, and their powerful arms and jaws to wound them, even going as far as to try to tear out the Nui-Jaga's tail. Like their Greater relatives, Sand Tarakava live alone or in breeding pairs, only congregating in larger numbers during the mating season.

Hardly. The Skull Crawler has a different head, no hind limbs (as opposed to vestigial limbs in the Tarakava), uses its front limbs for locomotion, and its general anatomy is based on a theropod dinosaur rather than a crocodile.

I'll add the lore later on in the description to explain this.
